Our bariatric surgery program at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare continues to grow!
This article quotes from Dr. Graber: "We are committed to providing treatment to people who suffer from the disease of obesity”, “Obesity is a disease, not a cosmetic issue caused by overeating and a lack of self control. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, we are able to help individuals change their lifestyle and their life.”
Thank you to all who help make this program a success!

"The Dress"
What can all the debate surrounding "The Dress" teach us about the importance of taking recommended vitamins after weight loss surgery?...(oh yeah, I'm gonna take it there). Whether you're on the side of Black and Blue or White and Gold, you'd have difficulty seeing all of those colors with a vitamin A deficiency. Although extremely rare, severe vitamin A deficiency can lead to blindness (not rare is me taking every opportunity available to highlight the importance of taking vitamins after bariatric surgery)! So, take the recommended vitamins after weight loss surgery, get routine bloodwork checked by your bariatric care team, and let's move on as the dress has been proven to be black and blue (even though I still think it looks white and gold). In good health, Evelyn Mariani, MS, RD, CDN
